About Sheila Polk
Sheila Polk is an Arizona native, born and raised in Phoenix in a large, close-knit Catholic family. She is the 7th child in a family of thirteen, three of whom are adopted and of mixed race. Sheila attended both Catholic and public schools in Phoenix where she quickly emerged as the champion and protector for those being victimized and bullied on the playground.
Sheila graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. and attended the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. It was there that Sheila met Tom, a Prescott native, and her husband of 38 years. In May of 1982, Sheila and Tom graduated from law school and were married one week later. Twelve years and three sons later, Sheila and Tom moved to Prescott to raise their family. Sheila accepted a position as a deputy Yavapai County attorney and Tom began his successful practice as in-house corporate counsel and providing trustee services.
Today, their three sons are attorneys—John practices tax law in Scottsdale and Prescott, Stephen practices business law in Prescott, and Matthew is a prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. All three sons are married to accomplished, lovely women. John and his wife Laura have one son age 18 months with another baby on its way, and Matthew and his wife gave birth to their first child in March. Barbara and Gene Polk, Sheila’s beloved in-laws, moved to Prescott in 1956 and are philanthropic and hands-on supporters of causes that protect children, provide services through non-profit agencies to support the poor and underprivileged, and help the arts flourish.
